Expect the unexpected.
That is what I would have told my younger self before I had the privilege of photographing weddings for clients.
Over the years I have had some very unexpected moments photographing weddings.
At my first Christchurch wedding, the bride and groom advised me that their grandma had a habit of faking heart attacks at family events. I wasn’t to worry, as they had a helper to take care of Nanna, should she take a turn. Righto…

Then there was the wedding client meeting, where the bride looked me squarely in the eyes and said “our wedding photos have to be perfect”. Okay, no pressure…
Or there was the time when I had 100-guests standing in front of me for a group photo and we had to wait 10-minutes for the bride and groom’s parents to actually show up. That was possibly the longest 10-minutes of my life…
Then there was the time at a wedding reception, when a groomsmen came over to me and started taking his clothes off, saying “it is time for a streaker run”.
And then there was a wedding reception where the queue for the photo booth was surprisingly long. I ambled over to have a look and what should I find?
