I have photographed a lot of different weddings over the years and I have to say, Karen and Nick’s wedding was a lot of fun to photograph.
Here are some things I loved about this wedding:
A True DIY Wedding
Karen and Nick’s wedding was held in the courtyard at their home, beneath a beautiful tree in flower. While I will photograph weddings of any size, I haven’t photographed a small, intimate wedding like this for a while and I have to say, I had forgotten how organic they tend to be and how fun they are.
My First Chinese Tea Wedding Ceremony
This was my first Chinese Tea Wedding Ceremony. For cultural reasons, I was asked not to showcase any photos of the couple exchanging tea with their parent’s. And that is cool. I absolutely respect that. But being there and witnessing the exchange of tea and gifts for good fortune, was pretty special.
Only the Third Time I’ve Had Cake
I don’t usually eat any of the wedding cake at weddings, given I am busy photographing the actual wedding, but given how small this was, it would have been rude of me to say no.
This is only the third time I have eaten a piece of wedding cake at a paid wedding photography job.
