Anatomy of a Wedding Photography Job | Part 1

When you book me to photograph your wedding, there is a lot more to photographing your wedding than just turning up on the day and taking some photos.

A lot more.

Pre-wedding Planning

Once I have been booked, I will send you an online questionnaire with a variety of questions around the nuts and bolts of your day. I ask questions like how many guests you will be expecting; how big is the bridal party; what is the wet weather plan; what family issues exist that I should know about and more.

Once I have this information, I massage it into a document, which serves as a run sheet of your day.

While all my wedding photography packages are based on coverage, not time, the run sheet ensures that you know where and when I’ll be turning up and what I will and won’t be covering on the day.

It also covers practical things like contact numbers on the day, in case something random happens like a flat tyre or a car accident.

Pre-wedding meet and greet

If I haven’t already met you prior to you booking your wedding, I will always ensure that we actually meet prior to your wedding. While this can be difficult for destination weddings, for local weddings it is easy to accommodate.

The primary goal of the meet and greet is to put a face to the name, say hello and run through any last minute changes to the wedding run sheet for the day.

Generally speaking, I find couple’s are more relaxed on their wedding day if we have met prior to their wedding, so this is something I try and do.
